It is hard to believe Buddy (Emmett) has been in our home a full week. He is settling in very nice. He went to be groomed today. They reported that he was not mean but it was apparent that he was inexperience with grooming. He likes to stay in the same room with us. He is helping me get my exercise with twice daily walks. He likes to play fetch and keep away. He is very playful and we are enjoying him very much. Obedience lessons will start in June. The primary goal now is to respond to his new name.
August Update!
Buddy became a family member in May. He is now a constant companion. I can credit Buddy with my recent success of completing a 5k run. Buddy has kept me on target with daily exercise. He has a 3 month old playmate, Betsy – another Golden, and is wonderful with her. They play and chase each other and even though I would not blame him for getting upset with her, Buddy is very tolerant of puppy teeth. I can count on Buddy to be at my feet while I am working on the computer. When we first got him he was satisfied to stay in another room at night but now cries if he is not with us in the bedroom. Guess who sleeps in the bedroom now?? Buddy has completed obedience class and I plan to do a second session so we can continue to work together. He certainly brings joy and contentment into our lives. After a stressful day, it is good to have a dog that just wants to be with you – that is our Buddy.
